This was painted in Saudi Arabia, when the artist lived there for 8 years. Falconry is a very popular sport among the Saudis. Many have tame falcons which sit on their gloved wrists. The companion bird is a Bustard, native to Saudi as well.
The painting is framed in cork like material- rather unusual, but apropos.
